Itinerary
Benevento - Avellino Harvest Tour Sample Itinerary (land
only):
Day 1
Alycia will greet travelers at the Rome/Naples airport and transport
all via ground to the small Gothic town of Sant’Agata de Goti.
There will be free time to explore the area and get acquainted.
Dinner will be held at a local restaurant.
Day 2
Mid-morning we’ll enjoy a walking tour of this extraordinary
town. After lunch is free time to visit churches, do some local shopping
(before 1pm of course!), and try your Italian at local grocery stores
or restaurants. In the late-afternoon, wine tasting will be hosted
by one the oldest family-owned wineries in the area with dinner and
live music to follow.
Day 3
After breakfast, we’re off to Dugenta where we’ll stay
in luxury at a wine resort surrounded by endless acres of vineyards.
Wine tasting, beautiful walking trails, swimming pool, and optional
spa treatments such as, massage and wine baths are just some of the
luxuries you can experience on the grounds. The early afternoon will
be devoted to the Reggia di Caserta. We’ll leave early in the
morning to reach this awesome, grand palace once occupied by the Borboni
family, formally the King of Naples; the palace was their country
estate and hunting grounds. From silk covered walls to endless sculptures
and frescos, the beauty will overwhelm you. Back in Dugenta, wine
tasting and a tour of the grounds will precede dinner in the formal
dining room. A ceramics class for the artisans in the group is optional.
Day 4
The small town of Taurasi and its local wine is on the agenda for
today. Travelers will enjoy visiting a cantina, a walking tour from
a local winemaker, and the pleasure of dining in this quite, but rich
hilltop town.
Day 5
An hour away is the breathtaking town of Calitri. We’ll have
the luxury of touring some of the finest ceramic shops, and tasting
Campanian cheeses locally produced by Di Cecca along with local wine
called Aglianico del Vulture. This town is on the
border of the region of Basilicata and Campania. The land is composed
of different volcanic soil than what we’ve seen before because
it’s close to Vulture, an inactive volcano located nearby in
Basilicata. Travelers will lodge in a local agricolturismo, which
will include a dining experience that never seems to end.
Day 6
The trip has come to an end and we’ll return to Rome/Naples.
The afternoon is free to discover the city. In the evening, we’ll
have the last dinner, “l’ultima cena” together.
Day 7
Return home with a greater appreciation for the region of Campania
