Alycia’s
Southern Italian Tours specializes in escorted small group wine tours
(approximately 4-12 persons) to the cities and outskirts of Avellino,
Benevento, and Caserta in the southern Italian region of Campania.
While there’s plenty of interest in wine and tourist regions
in Northern Italy, Southern Italy has remained mostly untouched. It
still offers a unique traveling experience.
Tours focus on local wine, cuisine, culture, language, art and architectural
history. Travelers receive an intimate and authentic wine experience
by lodging at vineyards and agricolturismi (farm stays) where the
best-known wines from the region are produced. Examples include, Taurasi,
Aglianico, Fiano di Avellino, Falanghina, and Greco di Tufo. Of course,
local cuisine is an essential part of a wine experience and travelers
will have the opportunity to dine at local agricolturisimi, restaurants,
vineyards, and participate in cooking, ceramic, and language classes.
Depending on the traveler’s tastes, tours offered are: walking
tours of small towns like Sant’Agata de Goti; ventures to museums
such as the Reggia di Caserta; churches dedicated to the famous monk
and now saint, Padre Pio; local archeological sites; Italian language
and cooking classes.
The summer traveling season is May through August. September, October,
and November are reserved for the harvest (vendemmia). Tours during
the remaining months can be arranged. Side excursions to Capri, Ischia,
Naples, and the Amalfi Coast can be included in your travel arrangement;
you’re encouraged to visit these sites during the summer season.
